Snagged & Bagged vs. Nordstrom Rack, TJ Maxx, Poshmark and The RealReal: What's the Difference?

If you shop designer brands below retail, you probably have three or four of these open in tabs already. They're not the same thing. Here's what each one is, where its merchandise comes from, and what it costs to get it to your door.
The short answer
Nordstrom Rack and TJ Maxx are off-price chains that buy merchandise in bulk and sell it new, with returns. Poshmark and The RealReal are resale marketplaces where most items are pre-owned. Snagged & Bagged is a marketplace for independent boutiques' sale racks: everything is brand new with tags, shipping is $5 flat, and all sales are final.

Nordstrom Rack
Rack is Nordstrom's off-price arm, with stores across the country and a big site. The merchandise is new and bought in bulk by a central buying team. The two things it does well are returns and pickup: you can buy online and return in any Nordstrom or Rack store for free.
Shop it when: you want to try things on and return what doesn't work.
TJ Maxx
TJ Maxx is an off-price chain with a mix of apparel, shoes, home and beauty. Like Rack, it buys in bulk through a central team, and the assortment shifts daily. Online returns are free in store and $11.99 by mail.
Shop it when: you're open on brand and want home and basics in the same cart.
Poshmark
Poshmark is a marketplace where people sell from their own closets. Some listings are new with tags, but most have been worn. It's often the best place to find a style that was discontinued years ago. Buyers pay a $6.49 flat shipping rate for packages up to 5 lb.
Shop it when: the piece you want hasn't been sold new in years.
The RealReal
The RealReal is a luxury consignment site that authenticates what it sells. It's strongest on high-end designer handbags, jewelry and ready-to-wear. Nearly everything is pre-owned. Standard shipping on fashion is $15.95.
Shop it when: you want a luxury label at a pre-owned price and authentication matters.
Snagged & Bagged
We're the bridge between you and the sale racks of thousands of independent boutiques. A boutique owner bought every piece for her own customers, betting her own money they'd love it. What didn't sell in her town gets listed here, brand new with tags, at the price she sets.
That model explains the differences you'll notice. Sizes are limited because it's the real last of a real rack. The same item can show two prices because two different shops listed it. And it's final sale because the boutique already priced it to move. Shipping is $5 flat on every order, and if something arrives wrong or damaged, we refund it.
